Join Festival Artistic Director Tom Williams in this fascinating exploration of Rachmaninov's great choral work.
Consisting of settings from the Orthodox Church's All Night Vigil, it has been praised as Rachmaninov's finest achievement. While the work is inextricably associated with Orthodox chant melodies, its expressive harmony and Rachmaninov's idiosyncratic use of texture illustrate the pinnacle of the early 20th Century Russian style.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become more familiar with the intricacies of this unique setting ahead of the Festival's closing concert on the 17th June.
“The Clifton Festival workshops are the highlight of my singing year, informative and fun all at once!”
